Thursday morning began early. We had a great time of fellowship, followed by worship and inspiring word from lead pastor, Chris Lewis. The summer break was shorter than previous ones, but that didn’t hamper the enthusiasm preschool and K-8 staff had for reconnecting and preparing for the wave of kids who will fill our classrooms next week.
The first few days of orientation are always very busy with things like new insurance options, employee policies, technology changes and scheduled activities. For the veterans, much of it seems like review; for newer members, it can be a tad overwhelming and all so new.
In the midst of the hum, there is common thread that ties us all together. It’s found in our shared mission of “Loving God, Loving Each Other, and Loving Our World.” This transcending theme affirms that what we do as teachers has eternal dimensions. Teaching our children to love God, to love each other, and to love our world is—far and away—the most important thing in life we can do. It’s what we are called to do!
There is no greater way to start our new school year than to make prayer and dedication of service our greatest priority.
