Foothill Christian School is featured in the August issue of Frontline Faith, a newsletter produced and nationally distributed by Open Doors. The ministry of
Open Doors serves persecuted Christians worldwide.
As a 6th grade teacher at Foothill Christian School in Glendora, California, Open Doors’ supporter Jennifer Burris is using her time, talents and teaching to raise up a new generation of young Christians dedicated to serving the persecuted church.
Each year she takes her class to the China Experience at the Open Doors office in Santa Ana: an interactive adventure for kids and adults. “We do all we can to teach our kids about the reality of persecution,” explains Jennifer. “We read them excerpts from God’s Smuggler, use the World Watch List, run prayer groups with the kids, and set up underground church simulations, ” she explains.
“We make sure the kids realize that the testimonies we read on the Open Doors website and magazine are real people in real situations,” Jenifer continues. “And most of all we want them to grasp that we are the answer to the prayers of the persecuted church. When our suffering brothers and sisters pray for help, support and resources, we are how God is answering their prayers.”
“It’s been amazing to see the kids’ response! And I’d encourage you to jump right in with both feet and see all that the Lord can do through you with Open Doors – whether you are a 6th grader or an adult!”
