Golf Tournament Helps Families In Need

This year marks our 18^th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, May 13^th at South Hills Country Club in West Covina. Some people wonder what this event accomplishes. Let’s take a closer look:

Is it a first class event? YES! We have stalwart golfers who say this is their favorite tournament of the year.

Is it an event that can involve players of skill and no skill? ABSOLUTELY! It’s what golfers call a “scramble.”  Best ball hit is the one every player in your foursome plays.

Is it fun and worth your time? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! Our players have a great time playing on a gorgeous course.  Lunch is included, a great goodie bag for each person, snacks and beverages, and a full-course dinner and enjoyable auction to cap off the evening.

Is it pricey?  IT’S A FUNDRAISER! Every dollar raised goes to the FCS Scholarship Fund, which assists families who are faced with the dilemma of withdrawing their children from this great school. Maybe they lost a job. Or lost a loved one. Or were hospitalized and face insurmountable medical bills. Or maybe it’s single parent who is doing everything possible to keep their child here at Foothill. These are some of the needs we can address through the Scholarship Fund. When you play golf, YOU HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Here are a few comments made by a single mom who is helped by the Scholarship Fund:

Thank you, Mr. G., for choosing my family for financial aid. A week ago, I thought I’d have to pull my child out of Foothill. My husband left me with three children, and no assistance for their education.  I couldn’t imagine my children attending school anywhere else. They are loved and nurtured here. I thank God for this school, which cared enough to help with tuition. The help has made a huge difference, so I wanted to tell you how truly blessed I am and that I can’t thank God enough!
