Decidedly Academic. Distinctively Christian.

DR Trip 2 | Day 3

Hi, this is Christian Martin. Today, we ate breakfast and then went on a 3 hour bus ride. This bus ride was to a city named Azua. When we were there we sang some songs. Our drama team did their drama and then we fed all of the kids in the room. After, we gave 250 bags of clothes that we made yesterday (shirts, shorts, and shoes) to the families there. Then we said goodbye to the kids. Today was a good day. Also, Hi Seth, and Mom. I love you.

Hi, this is Christian Basch. Today we went to Azua this afternoon with 250 bags of clothes, food, and candy and gave them away to the people there. We preformed 3 songs and a drama, that explained the birth of Adam and Eve. After we gave away the clothes and food we said bye and drove back. The second bus had a flat tire and we had to fix it. We left and drove for about 30 minutes and got ice cream and drove back home.

Hi, it’s Miss Rychen. As the students mentioned before- we went to Azua, a village about 3 hours from our hotel. The drive wasn’t bad at all, and it was cool to see other parts of the country. When we got to the village- we were greeted by a church filled with little children who the students performed their songs and drama for. After, the students passed out food that was prepared by a woman and her family. Then we had peopled lined up outside the church with tickets who were waiting to receive their care package.

There was a wide range of men and women, grandmas and grandpas, children, and babies. This is where things always get a little chaotic, because no matter how organized we try and be, or how many donations we bring, there will always be a point where we run out. The students handled it well, but it’s hard to say “no more”. Especially when we all think about the abundance of what we have to go home to. I was really grateful for out bus drivers and body guards for keeping the crowd of people in line.

This group of students has been so great and so go with the flow. We had a little tire trouble on the way home, but a little game of “Down by the banks” and “Heads Up” made it go by quickly. The weather has been great- humid but not too hot, but perfect for some ice cream! Mr. Gaines, Ms. Leffin, and I have been having a great time with the kids and parents. We’re looking forward to going to the schools and foundation tomorrow.

Blessings!

It does my heart good to see our students embracing the call of Christ to serve others!
