D.R. Trip 1 – Day 2, Glimpses of Joy

Tuesday, November 24, 2015: El Tamarindo, DR. 9 a.m. (Atlantic Time)

Mission team leader, Miss Jen Burris, charged the Faith in Action team to be vigilante throughout the week about spotting those inspiring moments when the joy of the Lord is clearly present in the events and activities of this week in the Dominican Republic.

One of those moments of celebration occurred early today after a jostling ride through the side streets of El Tamarindo. Our bus stopped this morning at Las Manos de Jehova, Centro Educativo Christiano, a tiny school that accommodates 52 children each morning, and another 35 in the afternoon.   The noisy bus aroused the children inside who then rushed to the main entrance, cheering and waving to guests from Foothill Christian School.

A smiling Charro, the warm and welcoming school administrator, greeted our team members with open arms and generous hugs. When the excitement settled down and everyone was in place, Caleb Robles, Seth Broussard, Caroline Metyas, Sophia Tatone, Lauren Ruiz, Karine Ramirez, John Paik, and Cassidy Wu led group singing, performed a dramatic skit, and involved local children in a biblical lesson from Ephesians 6:17 about the importance of wearing the whole armor of God.

The joy of the Lord filled the air with the beautiful sound of child laughter, singing and heartfelt testimonies about loving Jesus and trusting in Him for all our needs!
