D.R. Trip – Day 1
Today we started the morning off with our morning devotion on the beautiful beach and then drove to the Manny Mota Foundation. While we were there, we sorted all of our donations and items into piles, getting ready to hand them out. Part of our team served the children lunch, while the rest of the team talked to the children. It was really crazy to think that the lunch we served them was the only meal they would get for the day. Later, we played volleyball, tag, and keep away, and the children had joy on their faces the entire time. Our personal experience was with a boy named Alberto. He was very enthusiastic and translated what we had trouble saying in Spanish to the other children, creating a personal bond with us! After the children left we ate our amazing home cooked lunch, made by Melania. Lastly, our team played football together, and toured the foundation. Today we learned to be thankful for the food we eat, and no matter what to be happy through what God has given us. At the team debrief we talked about how it’s a blessing to bless others… a lesson we hope to never forget.
