Ask Marty – Spring 2017

Every quarter, Marty Rodriguez, FCS Corporate Sponsor and number one agent in the history of the Century 21, issues a newsletter about real estate insight and tips. Here is her statement for Spring 2017.

Ask Marty

You have to admit, these are amazing days for our country. Bold headlines, executive orders, fears and cheers, swift actions and counter actions, all in the wake of America’s recent transition of power.

So what do we do in light of such momentous change? As I commented last fall in this newsletter, it’s fairly predictable for people to be fearful and hesitant in the months preceding a national election, as well as the months that follow.

How a person voted in the last election will significantly influence his or her outlook about the state of the economy and where they see the nation heading.

But if we step aside and forget political rhetoric and personalities for a moment, there are good things happening, which we need to keep in mind. For sure, there is a daily drama in the nation’s capital that can be all-consuming, if we allowed it. It can even be paralyzing.

For me, I chose to see 2017 as a great year and here’s why. It marks my 39th anniversary of being in real estate. When I look back over the years, I see thousands of faces of men, women, and children helped through the efforts of this company. I use the term “company,” but it really is a family, a family of deeply committed professionals who aspire for excellence. Together, we share a common drive and heart-centered purpose to see dreams come true for home buyers and home sellers alike.

The year ahead has other positive indicators worth noting. In recent days, the DOW hit unprecedented highs, people are working, the housing market is moving (we even have a shortage of housing inventory), the upward price of homes is steady, and today’s interest rates hover around 3.875 to 5%, all of which is extremely good news. What a great time for first-time buyers, especially young people making good incomes who are paying heavy taxes; they need to invest in property.

I lived through the ebb and flow of the market, and remember those dreaded days in the early 80s when housing inventory was five times what it is today, houses weren’t selling, and interest rates climbed to 20%. Were those tough times? You bet!

Presidents come and go, emotions run high and low, but the spirit of people is always resilient. I don’t believe for a second that prospective buyers and sellers should wait for some magic point in time to strike.

Politics aside, this is a great time for established homeowners to buy the home of their dreams … for young couples to purchase their first house … for single parent renters to begin investing in the security of a home that actually builds equity.

The team of Century 21 Marty Rodriguez stands ready to help you achieve your homeowner dream in 2017. Let our nearly forty years of real estate experience in Southern California show you why this is a GREAT TIME to make your move. When you’re ready to take that first exciting step, we’d love to be there with you. Give us a call today!
