Decidedly Academic. Distinctively Christian.

Student Essays – Part 1

Editor’s Note:  This time every year, Foothill is invited to submit student essays to the Glendoran Magazine. If published, the essay will appear in a special Youth Edition this coming fall.  Essays are reviewed by magazine staff , who make the final decision about which ones will appear in print.  We are submitting 14 essays, which reflect the creative work of our 5th through 8th grade students.  This week, we  feature essays by Brooke Esquivel (5th grade) and Andrew Weber (6th grade).  Special thanks to Miss Thompson and Miss Leffin for encouraging the students to participate in this community project.

BrookeBrooke Esquivel, 5th Grade | MY SCHOOL

Foothill Christian School is the best school ever. We have amazing teachers, a terrific administrator, and the coolest adventures. My favorite thing about Foothill is that everyday we have enrichments. We have computer, music and PE.

In 5th grade I have two amazing teachers, Miss Thompson and Miss Basham. My homeroom teacher is Miss Thompson. She teaches science, language, reading and spelling. Miss Basham teaches math, history and Bible. My two favorite subjects are science and Bible. I like Bible because everyday I learn more about the Lord, and I like science because we do really cool experiments. My favorite experiment this year was separating Kool Aid from water.

In 4th -8th grades we go away on trips for about four days. We have opportunities to go to many places like Rawhide Ranch and Catalina Island Marine Institute [CIMI]. In Junior High we have the opportunities to go to Alpine and Palomar camps, and to The Dominican Republic and Washington D.C. My favorite trip so far has been CIMI Camp because there is a tunnel called Long Division. It is pitch-black and throughout the tunnel, there are many obstacles. I still have many more adventures to look forward to here at Foothill.

Foothill Christian is the best.  I hope you will become part of our Foothill family.

Andrew Weber, 6th Grade | GLENDORA LIBRARY

Do you ever want to read books for free? The Glendora Library is perfect for that. First of all, it has so many books. When I was little I got lost in all of the bookshelves. It took me a while to find my way out. Almost every time I go there I find the book I’m looking for. My school doesn’t have as many books so I just go there after school.

Also the bookstore has many reasonably priced books. I once got a Harry Potter book for two dollars. Most of the small books only cost fifty cents. It is also easy to find the books in the bookstore.

Finally, it is a great environment for reading and working. I usually try to read at home but it is too noisy. My sister has soccer practice so I go to the library and work there. This is how I get my homework done.

As one can see, the Glendora Library has many books and reasonably priced books. It also has a great working environment. I am thinking of going there today.
